The Lankford Roadmap

Start your Roadmap.

Retirement isn't simply about reaching a destination. It's about having a clear plan for the road ahead. I'm Tim Lankford, and this is how we work with every client.

Start with three questions.

Answer privately: yes, no or unsure.

  1. If you stopped working tomorrow, do you know where your retirement paycheck would come from over the next five years?

  2. If the market dropped 25% tomorrow, would you know what to change, and what to leave alone?

  3. If something happened to you tonight, would your spouse know exactly what to do tomorrow?

If any answer was "no" or "unsure," you've found where you need more clarity. That's where a Roadmap conversation begins.

Your first meeting

What happens when you sit down with us

A first conversation is about you, not a product. Here is what to expect.

  1. A short call first

Call (317) 993-3346 or ask us to call you. We ask what's on your mind and when you hope to retire, and we tell you what to bring.

  2. Bring what you have

Recent statements for your 401(k), IRA and other savings, your Social Security estimate from ssa.gov/myaccount, any pension paperwork, and your last tax return. Missing something? Come anyway.

  3. Sit down with Tim

At the Carmel or Brownsburg office. Tim asks about the life you want, not just the accounts you have. Your spouse is welcome, and encouraged, to come.

  4. You decide what comes next

We show you what we see and which step comes first. Nothing changes unless you say so.

What it costs you: nothing. Meetings with Tim are free, and so are our workshops and dinners. See how we get paid.

How we work

Five steps, in order

Retirement is like a long road trip. You need to know where you are, where you're going, what you may run into along the way, and what you'll do when conditions change. The goal isn't to predict every turn. It's to have a process for what we do when the road changes.

  1. Step 1

    Chart

    Where you are today

What comes in, what goes out, what you own and what you owe, all on one page. Clarity before strategy.

  2. Step 2

    Map

    Your destination

What you want retirement to look like: where you live, who you help, how you spend an ordinary Tuesday.

  3. Step 3

    Navigate

    The decisions ahead

Markets, taxes, interest rates and healthcare costs change. We plan for the risks and decide what, if anything, to do.

  4. Step 4

    Guide

    Your plan

We coordinate your income sources and keep checking that the plan still fits your life.

  5. Step 5

    Journey

    Together

We keep meeting as life changes, and we help you leave clarity, not a scavenger hunt, for the people you love.

A proven process. A purposeful plan. A life well lived.

What you leave with

Four things you can take home and keep

  • Your income picture

Where each month of retirement income would come from, and how it compares with what you plan to spend.

  • A tax map

Which accounts are taxed how, and how the order you draw from them can change what you keep.

  • A Social Security comparison

Your choices side by side, including what each one means for a surviving spouse.

  • A stress test

What happens to the plan in a bad market, with higher inflation, or with a long life.
